approach:

  from A46: Until the end, then turn right (B221), Exit Schleiden / Heinsberg. Continue in direction Saefflen, through Braunsrath then still aprox. 5 km. At the crossing left twards Breberen. Turn left at the crossing and leave the village. On the right hand you will see Haus Altenburg.

from Geilenkirchen use B56 in direction Gangelt. In the village Gillrath take the second right in direction Birgden. At the T-splitting left, the next right in direction Schierwaldenrath / Saeffelen. Through Schierwaldenrath, Harzelt towards Breberen. Just before Breberen, you see the sign at the left hand of the street.
