Haus Hohenbusch is a former moastery (Kreuzherrenkloster). Court and chapel have been mentioned 1255 for the first time. The moastery was established in 1302. The ownership, inclusive all rights were turned over to the "Orden vom Heiligen Kreuz" by the diocece Aachen. In the 17st century the church was rebuild, in 18st century the moastery and court were extended.

The work of science and ecconomical power, was of importance for the order and region. The wealthy city of Erkelenz was helped by Haus Hohenbusch after the city burned down in 1540. After occupation of the left rhine aerea, by frech revoilution-troops the monastery was deserted on June the 9th 1802. The ownership rights were divided, the church totally and the court partly destroyed. The city of Erkelenz owns Haus Hohenbusch since 1983.
