		Today Effeld is a so called "Spargeldorf" (asparagus village) since it became a favourite place to grow that vegetable. At present the asparagus buyers come from the Moenchengladbach and Aachen region into the village. At the local restaurants special asparagus dishes are served during the season in may each year. The old "House Effeld" is a seat on two islands but not open for public. The late gothic building of the main castle from 15 century became 1606 a representative castle system.

		Exit 8 Hückelhoven West direction Wassenberg / Roermond (NL) pass Millich and Ratheim. After passing Wassenberg, driving another 4 km, then follow the signs for Effeld (left side of the road). Exit Aldenhoven (B56) pass Geilenkirchen on the ring road, continue the same street witch turns to be towards Heinsberg and Wassenberg, just before Wassenberg turn left at the traffic lights, direction Roermond (NL). Driving another 4 km, then follow the signs for Effeld (left side of the road).
