History: Erarly records of the name JANSEN date back to the sixteenth century. One Cornelius Janszoon was a bishop of Gent from 1510 - 1576 (Wetzer und Weltes Kirchenlexikon VI 1216f). A Maria Christina Jansen married an alderman from Colongne, Johann Fischer, in 1751.
